My internship experience at Dativa & Associates.
My internship at Dativa & Associates has been a valuable and rewarding experience that has enabled me to bridge the gap between classroom knowledge and practical work. My experience has been the best the members of Dativa & Associates have been so welcoming, patient and polite to me in regards of my learning because not everyone is so welcoming in their offices but am glad I made the right choice of choosing one of the best auditing firms in Uganda. This internship has helped me develop technical skills, improve my confidence and understand the duties and responsibilities expected of an auditor.
During my internship, I participated in several audit assignments under the guidance of senior auditors. Some of my responsibilities included reviewing accounting records, examining supporting documents, preparing audit working papers and assisting in the documentation of audit findings. I also attended some entry meetings with clients, learned how audit files are organized, and observed how audit evidence is collected and evaluated.
The internship strengthened my analytical and team work skills. Working alongside experienced auditors taught me the importance of professionalism, confidentiality and meeting deadlines. This internship program has made me more confident in using Microsoft Excel and other office applications to analyze financial information and prepare audit schedules.
Like any learning experience, the internship came with some challenges. At first, understanding some audit procedures and interpreting financial documents was difficult because everything was new to me, I also had to adjust to fast paced working environment and completing assignments with strict deadlines. However , with guidance from my supervisors and continuous practice, I gradually become more confident and convenient with work each day that p assed because with each challenge, it pushed me to be more hardworking learn something new and improve my performance and am so grateful for that.
Overall, my internship at Dativa & Associates was an enriching experience that has greatly contributed to my academic growth. It has allowed me to gain practical exposure to auditing, develop essential workplace skills and appreciate the ethics and professionalism in the accounting profession.
I am grateful to the management and staff of Dativa & Associates for their guidance, patience and willingness to mentor me throughout my internship program. I also appreciate myself for being able to allow and learn more about accounting and auditing, also thanking my university for providing this opportunity to gain practical experience before graduation. This internship has strengthened my interest in pursuing a career in accounting and auditing, and I believe the knowledge and skills I have acquired will continue to benefit me throughout my professional journey.
